Australian sports
I've been doing a fair amount of research about Australian sport and posting it to http://www.ozziesport.com/.  It has been really interesting to see geographic patterns emerge for some teams and leagues. An example:

I'm curious as to what networks and sites people see as popular ones for Australian sports fans.  Facebook seems to have a lot of fans. Twitter appears to be second. Yahoo!groups looks to be third. Bebo looks to be about fourth.   LiveJournal looks to be about fifth.  Blogger is about sixth.  Gaia Online looks to be pretty small, on par with LiveJournal clones.

For smaller leagues, what networks do you think fans are on?  I'm finding a few for the VFL on bebo but more appear to be on YouTube. Gridiron Australia also looks like it is on bebo, Youtube, Twitter and Yahoo!Groups. The Victorian Amateur Football Association looks like it is on YouTube and MySpace.

Where is the community for the AHL and teams like Canberra Labor Club Lakers, Southern Hotshots, Victoria Vikings?  Is there an active online fanbase for the NWBL ?  Is there a fanbase for Gridiron Australia Nationals  teams like ACT Monarchs and NSW Wolfpack?  Where is the fan community for the ANZ Championship New Zealand based Canterbury Tactix ?   A lot of these teams seem so small and niche that I can't see there being much interest in the online but you'd think the players would at least express an interest in their own teams.

Also, congrats to the Perth Wildcats on the NBL championship. :)

The spam/script post
Ok ausports fans, for those that saw the strange script post in here yesterday, it appears from the response I got from the LJ Abuse Team that it isnt a violation of the terms of service so there isnt much they can do... its up to the community maintainer, so will try and get in touch with him or see if he sees this and get it removed... or even (if no-one else is interested) put up my hand to try and get some activity in here again

Hi everyone, hope you had a great Christmas without too many cares.

Sadly, sometimes Christmas is far from care-free, with the costs and stresses of getting supplies getting some people down that they can almost forget it is a time to celebrate. I'm happy to tell you that there IS a solution.

From the bottom of my heart, I can recommend the Chrisco Christmas hamper club...

With a little bit of planning, you can spend the year paying off supplies little by little. You will hardly notice that the money has gone each week, but come Christmas time, it will all add up to a wonderful hamper of Christmas goods being delievered to your house. The sooner you order and start paying, the smaller your weekly/fortnightly/mothly (whatever suits you best) payments will be.

The full range of hamper choices can be viewed online, or you can request a catalogue by calling 1800 28 28 28.

It may sound like a well-worn advertising slogan, but never a truer word was spoken when they say you can save for a magical Christmas with Chrisco.

I am not a troll, nor do I make any profit from posting this. I simply believe in this program, and am sure you will too if you give it a go.

Aussie Sport State-Side?
Hi folks! I am currently living State-side and miss watching the footy and rugby. Does anyone know if any channels here air matches of either sport or if there are Podcasts somewhere on the web?

Thanks heaps! :)

We're flying high!!!
well ok maybe not as high as Ben Cousins was that night *G* but hot damn, 1 point! talk about stress, pressure, tension... the mix of emotions from anger to relief to ecstasy... ad to that a drink or 3 ;-) with more to come... lol what a day...

seriously though, with 5 games now decided by a total of 12 points, and now 3 Grand Finals in the past 4-5 years decided by a goal or less (after many years of saying that we havent had and needed a close one) if you ever needed some examples of how great this game can be, you have it...

crossposted to all sorts of places....

We're going to Germany!! We're going to Germany!!

Penalties, heart attack material, but for once the right was done, the better team went through, the team that dominated more over the 2 legs got the result... after 32 years of heart-ache, continually tripping at the last hurdle, battling hard, impossible qualification routes... we're there again, and playing in a style and class and ability that proves we belong there...

damn I cont stop grinning *G* LOL

1st test
Hmmm wasnt much reaction, but lets try and breath some lifeback into this place anyway *S*

Just reading an article here about how Langer wants to play despite the injury, and maybe in part because he's worried that if Hussey (or whoever) comes in and ha a great performance, it could put his spot in jeopardy...

But actually, in that scenario, I think its Hayden who should be more worried... yes he has got a couple of scores recently, but to me he has still looked scrappy and out of form... Langer has still looked solid and in control... if Hussey came in, got a decent score, and Hayden failed again, when its time to bring Langer back in it may be Hayden thats dropped and Hussey that stays to open with Langer...

That said, I still think Hayden was lucky to be there for the ROW Supertest, and Martyn was the stiff one who should never have been dropped...
